Quick Summary
To activate IBO Player, open the app and note your Device ID (MAC address) and Device Key. On a phone or computer, open the IBO Player website, go to Manage Playlists and log in with them. Then click Add Playlist for an M3U URL or Add XC Playlist for Xtream Codes, save, and refresh the app. It takes about 5 minutes.
Good to Know: 7-Day Free Trial, Then a License
Every new device gets a 7-day free trial. After that, IBO Player needs a license per device. Most IPTV providers activate it for free with a 6- or 12-month subscription, or you can buy it on the official IBO Player website. IBO Player doesn’t provide any IPTV channels, playlists or subscriptions: you add your own Xtream Codes or M3U URL from your IPTV provider.
IBO Player (also shown as IBO TV Player) is different from most IPTV players: you don’t type your login on the TV. Instead, you add your playlist on the IBO Player website using your device’s Device ID and Device Key, and the app downloads it. This guide shows both ways to activate IBO Player, with an M3U URL and with Xtream Codes, how to load your channels, and how to buy the license after the free trial. The same steps work for IBO Player Pro.
Before You Start: What You Need
- IBO Player installed on your TV, Firestick, phone or computer (see how to download IBO Player on any device).
- Your IPTV login from your provider: Xtream Codes (username, password and host URL) or an M3U URL.
- A phone or computer with a web browser, to open the IBO Player website.
Adding a Playlist vs Buying the License
“Activating IBO Player” can mean two different things. Most people need the first one right away, and the second one after the free trial:
| Add your playlist | Buy the license | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Loads your channels, movies and series | Keeps the app working after the 7-day trial |
| Where | IBO Player website > Manage Playlists | IBO Player website > Activate Device |
| What you need | Device ID, Device Key, Xtream Codes or M3U URL | Device ID (MAC address) |
| Cost | Free | Free with most 6- or 12-month IPTV subscriptions, or a one-time fee per device |
Log In to the IBO Player Website With Your Device ID and Key
Step 1: Find Your Device ID and Device Key
Open IBO Player. The welcome screen shows your Device ID (your MAC address, for example 90:11:95:F7:11:F5) and your 6-digit Device Key on the right. Write both down, or take a photo of the screen.
Step 2: Open Manage Playlists on the IBO Player Website
On your phone or computer, open your browser and go to the official IBO Player website:
https://iboplayer.comClick Manage Playlists in the top menu. The Login to add your playlist form opens.
Step 3: Enter Your MAC Address and Device Key, Then Log In
- Mac Address: type your Device ID exactly as shown in the app, with the colons.
- Device Key: type the 6-digit key.
- Captcha: type the characters shown (click Refresh Captcha if you can’t read them).
- Click LOGIN.
You now see the Manage Playlists page with your MAC address and two buttons: Add Playlist (M3U) and Add XC Playlist (Xtream Codes). Choose your method below.
Method 1: Activate IBO Player With an M3U URL
Most IPTV providers give you an M3U playlist link. If you have one, this is the quickest method.
Step 1: Click Add Playlist
On the Manage Playlists page, click Add Playlist.
Step 2: Paste Your M3U URL and Click Save
- Playlist name: type any name, for example iptv.co.com.
- Playlist URL (.M3U or .M3u8): paste your full M3U link. It looks like
http://your-provider-url/get.php?username=…&password=…&type=m3u_plus&output=ts - XMLTV EPG URL: optional. Paste your provider’s EPG link (it usually ends in
xmltv.php?username=…&password=…) to get the TV guide. - Click SAVE.
Don’t have the link? Learn how to get an M3U URL. Then go to Load your playlist on the TV.
Method 2: Activate IBO Player With Xtream Codes
Use this method if your provider gave you a username, password and host URL instead. The TV guide and the movie and series library usually load automatically.
Step 1: Click Add XC Playlist
On the Manage Playlists page, click Add XC Playlist.
Step 2: Enter Your Xtream Codes and Click Save
- Playlist name: type any name, for example iptv.co.com.
- Username and Password: copy them from your provider’s email.
- Host: the server URL, starting with
http://and including the port if your provider gave one (for examplehttp://example.com:8080). - XMLTV EPG URL: optional. Leave it empty; with Xtream Codes the TV guide usually loads by itself.
- Protect this playlist: optional. Tick it to hide the playlist behind your Parent PIN.
- Click SAVE.
Then go to Load your playlist on the TV.
Load Your Playlist on the TV
Whichever method you used, go back to IBO Player on your TV or device.
Step 1: Refresh IBO Player
On the home screen, select the Refresh icon in the bottom bar (or close and reopen the app) so IBO Player downloads the playlist you just added.
Step 2: Wait While the Playlist Loads
A Loading, Please wait… bar appears. Large playlists can take a minute, so don’t close the app.
Step 3: Read the Playlist Notification and Dismiss It
If your IPTV subscription ends soon, IBO Player shows a Notification with the expiry date, your Device ID and Device Key. This date belongs to your IPTV provider’s subscription, not to the IBO Player license. Select Dismiss.
Step 4: Open Live TV
Your playlist is active. The playlist expiry date now shows at the bottom left. Select Live TV (or the Movies and Series icons next to it).
Step 5: Pick a Category and a Channel
Choose a category on the left, then a channel. The preview starts on the right; select it again to watch in full screen. Long press OK on a channel to add it to your favourites.
Step 6: Browse Movies and Series
The Movies and Series sections show your provider’s categories on the left and posters on the right. Use the search icon at the top to find a title.
Optional: Check the More Options Settings
The default settings work for most playlists. If the TV guide or movies don’t show correctly, open Settings (gear icon) > More Options, make sure Live TV Epg is ticked, and select Save. In our test we kept Live TV Epg and both Use Runtime Function options ticked. Movies or series not playing? See IBO Player movies and series not working.
How to Buy the IBO Player License After the Free Trial
When the 7-day trial ends, IBO Player stops playing until the device is activated.
Get it activated for free: most IPTV providers activate IBO Player for free when you buy a 6-month or 12-month subscription. Just contact your provider and send them your Device ID (MAC address); they activate the app for you, so you don’t need to buy the license yourself. Prices and renewal are explained in IBO Player subscription explained.
If your provider doesn’t offer this, you can buy the license yourself:
- Open the IBO Player website and click Activate Device.
- Enter your MAC address (Device ID) exactly as shown in the app.
- Choose the plan shown on the page and pay with the methods offered.
- Restart IBO Player on your device. Your playlists stay as they are.
Price: the license is a small one-time fee per device; the current price is shown on the Activate Device page and can change. The license is tied to the device’s MAC address, so each TV or stick needs its own.
IBO Player Pro: works with the same Device ID and Device Key system. According to the IBO Player team, an existing IBO Player activation carries over when you move to IBO Player Pro.
Beware of “Free Activation Codes”
There is no official free activation code for IBO Player or IBO Player Pro. Websites and videos offering free codes or “activated” APKs are usually scams or contain malware. Use the free 7-day trial, then buy the license only on the official website shown in the app. Most IPTV providers activate IBO Player for free with a 6- or 12-month subscription: contact yours.
IBO Player Not Activating? Quick Fixes
- Can’t log in on the website: type the MAC address with the colons, check the Device Key again (0 and O look alike), and refresh the captcha.
- Playlist saved but nothing shows on the TV: select Refresh on the home screen or close and reopen IBO Player.
- “Trial expired” or the app stopped playing: the 7-day trial is over. Buy the license under Activate Device.
- Channels don’t load with Xtream Codes: check that the host starts with
http://and includes the port, then try the M3U method instead. - “Your playlist will expire”: this is your IPTV subscription, not the app. Contact your IPTV provider to renew it.
- No TV guide: add your provider’s XMLTV EPG URL to the playlist and tick Live TV Epg in Settings > More Options.
- Other problems: see all fixes in IBO Player not working.
Keep Your Login Private
Your Device Key, Xtream Codes and M3U link give access to your playlist and subscription. Don’t share them in screenshots, videos or comments.
