Quick Summary
Most BOB Player problems are fixed in a minute. Playlist not loading? Make sure your M3U URL or Xtream Codes host starts with http://, not https://. Stuck on loading or channels missing? Open Settings > Clear Cache, select Clear All Cache and reopen the app. Still nothing? Restart your router, check your playlist on the BOB Player website, and make sure your 7-day trial or IPTV subscription hasn’t expired.
Good to Know: BOB Player Has No Channels of Its Own
BOB Player is only a player. It doesn’t provide any IPTV channels, playlists or subscriptions, so if your channels stop working, the problem is often your playlist or your IPTV provider, not the app. The fixes below solve the rest.
BOB Player usually works without problems, but a playlist that won’t load, channels that disappear, a login error on the website or an app that stops after a week can happen on any device. This guide lists the most common BOB Player not working problems on Firestick, Android TV, Samsung and LG smart TVs and phones, and shows how to fix each one step by step, starting with the two fixes that solve most cases.
Playlist Not Working Because the URL Starts With https://
A very common mistake: the Playlist URL, the XMLTV EPG URL or the Xtream Codes Host starts with https://. Most IPTV servers only work with http://, so BOB Player can’t load the channels.
- Log in on the BOB Player website with your Device ID and Device Key and open Manage Playlists.
- Click the pencil icon next to your playlist.
- Change
https://tohttp://at the start of the URL or host (unless your provider told you to use https). - Click SAVE, then reopen BOB Player and select the playlist in Change Server.
Quick Checklist: Try These First
- Check that your internet works on another app (YouTube, Netflix).
- Restart your internet to get a new IP address: unplug your router or modem for 1 minute, plug it back in and wait until the internet is back. (On mobile data, turn airplane mode on and off.)
- Close BOB Player completely and open it again.
- Open Change Server and select your playlist again.
- Restart your TV, Firestick or phone.
- Make sure your IPTV subscription is still active: ask your provider.
BOB Player Not Loading? Clear the Cache
Old data saved in the app can stop a playlist from loading, even when your login is correct. Clearing the cache fixes most “stuck on loading”, “no channels” and “old channel list” problems. Your playlist stays saved on the BOB Player website.
Step 1: Open Settings
On the BOB Player home screen, scroll to Settings and select it.
Step 2: Select Clear Cache
In the menu on the left, select Clear Cache. The Manage Your Application Cached Data page opens.
Step 3: Select Clear All Cache
Move to the CLEAR ALL CACHE button and press OK.
Step 4: Reopen BOB Player and Let the Playlist Reload
Close BOB Player and open it again (or select your playlist in Change Server). The app downloads your playlist again and shows Saving Live Channels Of Category… with a counter. Wait until it finishes: with a big playlist this can take one or two minutes.
BOB Player Playlist Not Working, Offline or No Channels
- Check the playlist on the website: log in on the BOB Player website with your Device ID and Device Key and open Manage Playlists. If the list is empty, add your playlist again (see how to activate BOB Player).
- Check your login details: one wrong letter in the M3U URL, the username, the password or the host is enough to break the playlist. Copy them again from your provider’s email.
- “Currently Offline”: the label can show Offline until the playlist is loaded. Select the playlist anyway. If it doesn’t load, check the URL (use http://, not https://) and clear the cache.
- Some channels work, others don’t: the problem is on your IPTV provider’s side. Contact them with the channel names.
- Subscription expired: if your IPTV subscription has ended, BOB Player can’t load any channels. Renew it with your provider.
Can’t Log In on the BOB Player Website
If the BOB Player website rejects your login, it can’t match the Device ID and Device Key you typed:
- Type the MAC address exactly as shown in the app (in Change Server), with the colons, for example 90:11:95:F7:11:F5.
- Check the Device Key again: 0 and O, or 1 and I, look alike.
- Click Refresh Captcha and type the new code if the captcha is rejected.
- Reinstalled the app or changed device? The Device ID can change: open Change Server and use the new one.
BOB Player Stopped Working After 7 Days (Trial Expired)
Every new device gets a 7-day free trial. When it ends, BOB Player stops playing until the device is activated. Most IPTV providers activate BOB Player for free when you buy a 6- or 12-month subscription: just contact your provider with your Device ID. Otherwise, buy the license on the BOB Player website under Activate Device (see BOB Player license).
BOB Player EPG (TV Guide) Not Working
- With an M3U playlist, add your provider’s XMLTV EPG URL to the playlist on the BOB Player website (it usually ends in
xmltv.php?username=…&password=…), and make sure it starts withhttp://. - With Xtream Codes, the guide usually loads by itself. If it doesn’t, add the EPG URL too.
- Clear the cache and let the playlist reload.
- Check that the time and date on your TV are correct: a wrong time shifts the whole guide.
- Some channels simply have no guide data from your provider.
BOB Player Buffering or Freezing
- Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi, or move the router closer. HD needs about 10 Mbps, 4K about 25 Mbps.
- Change the player: open Settings and select Choose LIVE Player (for Live TV) or Choose VOD Player (for movies and series), then try another player.
- Clear the cache and restart the device.
- Restart your router to get a new IP address.
- If only some channels buffer, contact your IPTV provider.
BOB Player Not Working With a VPN
Many IPTV servers block VPN IP addresses, so BOB Player shows a connection error or loads no channels when your VPN is on. The fix is to use your provider’s VPN DNS (VPN server URL) instead of the normal one.
- Find your VPN DNS: it usually comes with your IPTV login details and always starts with vpn (see the example below). If your provider didn’t send one, contact your IPTV provider and ask for the VPN DNS.
- Xtream Codes: log in on the BOB Player website with your Device ID and Device Key, open Manage Playlists, click the pencil icon next to your playlist and replace the Host with the VPN DNS. Keep the same username and password.
- M3U playlist: edit the Playlist URL on the website and replace the server part (before /get.php) with the VPN DNS.
- Do the same for your EPG URL if the TV guide stops working.
- Reload the playlist, then turn your VPN back on: channels load normally.
Example: VPN DNS for Xtream Codes and M3U
VPN DNS: http://vpn.dream-4k.co
Xtream Codes host: http://vpn.dream-4k.co
M3U URL: http://vpn.dream-4k.co/get.php?username=YOUR_USERNAME&password=YOUR_PASSWORD&type=m3u_plus&output=ts
Still not working? Change the VPN server or country, try another VPN protocol (for example WireGuard), and turn off the VPN’s ad or tracker blocker, which can block IPTV and EPG links.
BOB Player Parental Control: Lock Adult Channels
Watching with children? BOB Player has a parental control password that locks adult channels, movies and series categories. Change the default password to your own so only you can open them.
Step 1: Open Settings > Parental Control
On the BOB Player home screen, select Settings, then select Parental Control in the menu on the left. The Manage Your Parental Control Password page opens.
Step 2: Enter the Current and New Password
- Enter Current Parental Password: type the current password. On a new device this is the default password (usually 0000).
- Enter New Parental Password: type your own password, one that children can’t guess.
- Select UPDATE PASSWORD.
From now on, BOB Player asks for this password before opening adult categories.
- Hide categories completely: open Settings > Manage Categories to choose which Live TV, Movies and Series categories are shown.
- Protect a whole playlist: on the BOB Player website, tick Protect this playlist when you add or edit a playlist; you manage that PIN under Parent PIN on the website.
- Forgot the password? Log in on the BOB Player website with your Device ID and Device Key and check Parent PIN.
BOB Player Not Working on Samsung or LG TV
- Update the TV software: Settings > Support > Software Update (Samsung) or Settings > General > About This TV (LG).
- Clear the cache in BOB Player Settings, then turn the TV off at the wall for 1 minute.
- Delete BOB Player and install it again from the TV’s app store (see how to install BOB Player). Your playlist stays on the website.
- Use a cable or a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection if streams keep stopping.
BOB Player Not Working on Firestick
- Clear the cache: on the Fire TV home screen open Settings > Applications and select Clear all Application Caches (screenshots below). To clear only BOB Player, go to Manage Installed Applications, select BOB Player, then Clear cache.
- Free up storage: uninstall apps you don’t use. A full Firestick can stop BOB Player from loading big playlists.
- Restart the Firestick: hold Select + Play/Pause for 5 seconds.
- Still not working? Reinstall BOB Player with the Downloader code 815778.
Keep Your Login Private
Never post your Device Key, M3U link or Xtream Codes in comments or support groups when asking for help. Anyone with them can use your playlist.
Still Not Working? Uninstall BOB Player and Install It Again
If nothing above fixes it, a clean reinstall usually does. Your playlist is saved on the BOB Player website with your Device ID, so you don’t lose it.
Step 1: Open Settings > Applications
On the Fire TV home screen, open Settings (gear icon) and select Applications.
Step 2: Open Manage Installed Applications
Select Manage Installed Applications.
Step 3: Select BOB Player and Uninstall It
Find BOB Player in the list (it can be listed as bobtvplayer), select it, then select Uninstall and confirm.
Step 4: Install BOB Player Again
Restart the Firestick, then install BOB Player again with the Downloader code 815778 (see how to install BOB Player on Firestick). Open it, select Change Server and choose your playlist: it loads again.
On other devices: on Samsung and LG TVs, delete the app and reinstall it from the TV’s app store; on Android phones and tablets, uninstall it and install the APK again (see how to install BOB Player).
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is BOB Player not working?
